Questions

Things people ask us at the first meeting

If yours isn’t here, call any of the three offices. Whoever answers will find the lawyer who knows.

What does a first meeting cost?

We tell you on the phone, before you come in. For most matters the first meeting is a set fee, and we quote the rest in writing before any work starts.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Anything with your name on it that touches the matter: a deed, a will, a lease, court papers, letters from the other side. A list of questions helps too.

Do you charge by the hour?

Some work is a flat fee, like most wills and home closings. Court cases are usually by the hour. We’ll say which before you decide.

Will I work with a lawyer or an assistant?

A lawyer. Our assistants schedule and copy, but the lawyer you meet is the one who calls you back.

Can you help with a matter outside Lancaster County?

Often, within Pennsylvania. If another lawyer is better placed, we’ll tell you and suggest one.

Do you handle criminal cases?

No. We’ll give you names of defense lawyers in the county who do.

How quickly will you call back?

We aim for the same working day. If your lawyer is in court or at a closing, someone else will call to say when.

Can we meet in Spanish?

Yes, for family matters with Beatriz Rosado. For other matters we can arrange an interpreter.
